Jimmy grew up in a working-class home, the son of a Mexican immigrant and a union truck driver, and became the first in his family to go to college. But Jimmy’s life was forever changed just before his final year at UW Law School when a drunk driver took the lives of his mother, father, and little brother - and left Jimmy paralyzed.

After the tragedy, Jimmy vowed to dedicate his life to public service. After graduating from law school and founding a nonprofit dedicated to helping the victims of drunk driving, he decided to run for office. Jimmy was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2016, and over his four terms in office, he has fought to fix our healthcare system, protect our environment, improve our schools and universities, and so much more. He has also been a passionate advocate for the thousands of disabled Wisconsinites. He is now running to be your next State Senator and continue his work as your progressive voice in the legislature.
